I was a homemaker well into my adulthood giving birth to five of my own children. When my children were all old enough to be in school, I returned to school and earned dual bachelor’s degrees, one in psychology and the other in social and criminal justice. During my college years I worked as a caregiver with S.T.E.P. A for profit organization that supports the deaf community by keeping them as independent as possible, providing round the clock home caregivers. The client I cared for was blind and deaf and was amazed at her strength and tenacity. During this time I also cared for my aging parents who lived in their home of 40 years until my father’s passing.

I soon began work with Sacramento County. I have held multiple positions within the county from Family Service Worker, to Social Worker, to Human Services Specialist in the Foster Care Unit, where I remain today. I recently started my journey as a doula to fulfill a lifelong passion.
